In order to ensure the optimum safety of crash barrier systems, it is important for the end of the rails to be anchored firmly. For that reason, Steel Constructions supplies above-ground and underground anchoring devices for crash barrier constructions.

The purpose of crash barriers is to slow a vehicle down after a crash and correct its orientation. However, that can only be achieved as long as the end of the crash barrier does not come loose or curl up. That is why the crash barrier needs to be anchored extra firmly at the end.

The above-ground anchoring device consists of a frame with a steel rod attached to it which is connected to a concrete block by means of a threaded steel rod. That threaded rod can be tightened using a turnbuckle. This type of anchoring device is available in two design variations: with a 600 or 800 mm frame.

If the crash barrier rails at the end of a section curve downwards into the ground (24-metre end section), an underground anchoring device is used. Steel Constructions also supplies this underground anchoring device. The crash barrier can be firmly attached to the underground concrete blocks by means of a screw thread and turnbuckle.
