What are cookies?

Cookies are small plain text files that are placed on the hard drive of your computer when you visit a website. Those cookies allow us to make sure that you have the best possible experience when you visit our website. For example, we can remember your preferences so that you are only shown information that is of interest to you. Another benefit is that you will not need to log in or fill in the same information each time you visit a certain website.

Why are we telling you about the use of cookies?

On Tuesday 5 June 2012, the updated Telecommunications Act came into force in the Netherlands. One of the consequences of this is that from now on, certain cookies may only be placed on an Internet user’s computer with their explicit consent. That is why we want to let you know that our website uses cookies and the reason for this.

Google Analytics

Cookies can also be used to record visitor statistics. We use Google Analytics to gain insight into the behaviour of visitors to our website. These data give us insight into the surfing and browser activity of our visitors and where possible, enable us to make sure that you have the best possible experience when you visit our website. The information collected by Google is made as anonymous as possible. Your IP address is not provided.

Accepting or rejecting cookies

You can decide for yourself whether you want to accept or reject cookies. Most browsers are set to accept cookies as standard but you can usually adjust your browser settings so that cookies will be rejected. You will have to adjust your settings for each browser and computer. You can find information on how to change settings under the ‘help function’ in your browser:

Note: It is possible that some functions and services – on our and other websites – may not work correctly if cookies are disabled in your browser.
